Yarbo Y40 Pro: What’s New and Better Than the Y40?

yarbo y40p core

Yarbo Y40 Pro, officially called the Y40P, upgrades the part of your yard robot that powers every job: the core. A new gearbox-free dual hub motor drivetrain brings faster travel, more responsive movement, and greater coverage per charge.

For homeowners managing a large lawn, a long driveway, or several seasonal jobs, those improvements can make a practical difference. Here’s what changes compared with the Y40, what stays familiar, and how the new Snow Blower Gen 2 fits into the system.

What is the Yarbo Y40 Pro?

The Y40P is the upgraded core in Yarbo’s modular Y Series. The core is the powered base that moves the machine around your property. Attachments give it the ability to mow, remove snow, blow leaves, or trim.

It helps to distinguish the Y40 Pro core from the Lawn Mower Pro module. The first is the robot’s drive platform; the second is its mowing attachment. A Y40 core can also be paired with a Lawn Mower Pro module, so seeing “Pro” in a mower package name alone does not identify which core is included.

Manufacturer ratings from Yarbo’s Y40P Product Overview. *Mowing comparisons use the Lawn Mower Pro module. Per-charge mowing figures use the stated 20-80% battery operating window. **Snow coverage is rated in 1 inch of snow. Actual coverage depends on terrain, layout, grass or snow conditions, and operating settings. Maximum drive speed is not a promise of cutting speed.

1. A simpler drivetrain built for frequent use

The biggest hardware change is the move to dual hub motors without a conventional gearbox. Yarbo describes this as a simpler drive system with fewer moving parts and fewer mechanical wear points.

The benefit is especially relevant when one machine handles recurring jobs throughout the year. Yarbo positions the design as reducing drivetrain maintenance compared with conventional gearbox systems. Owners will still need to follow the maintenance requirements for the core and each attachment.

2. Faster travel and more responsive handling

The Y40P’s maximum drive speed increases from 0.65 to 1.2 meters per second. Yarbo also describes quicker acceleration, faster initial mapping, and smoother turning response.

Think about a property with several lawn areas linked by travel routes. Moving between those areas is part of the job, even when the blades are not cutting. Faster travel can reduce that overhead. The coverage figures are the more useful guide to mowing capacity, because grass conditions and the mowing task still affect working speed.

3. More lawn covered per charge

With the Lawn Mower Pro attachment, rated mowing coverage rises from 0.25 to 0.3 acre per charge. That is a 20% increase based on Yarbo’s published figures. Rated daily coverage increases to 2 acres, while the supported lawn size at two cuts per week increases from 6 to 7 acres.

For a large property, that gives the system more room in its schedule. It can also mean fewer charging interruptions to cover the same area under comparable conditions. The 7-acre figure describes a maintenance schedule across the week; it does not mean mowing 7 acres on one charge.

The familiar Lawn Mower Pro cutting specifications remain: a 20-inch cutting width, dual straight blades, and adjustable cutting height from 0.8 to 4 inches. The additional coverage comes from the upgraded platform, rather than a wider mowing deck in this comparison.

4. Greater snow-clearing coverage per charge

Yarbo rates the Y40P snow blower configuration for up to 7,000 square feet per charge, compared with 6,000 square feet for the Y40. That is roughly 17% more area under the specified test condition of 1 inch of snow.

For an Upstate New York driveway, snow depth and moisture matter as much as area. A light snowfall and heavy, wet accumulation create very different workloads. Use the coverage figure to compare the two cores, then choose a setup around your driveway size, slope, snow-storage areas, and typical winter conditions.

What’s better about Snow Blower Gen 2?

Snow Blower Gen 2 is a separate attachment update. Yarbo highlights motor-driven chute and deflector adjustment, more consistent snow-direction control in freezing conditions, and less upkeep associated with the previous cable mechanism.

That matters when placing snow beside a driveway or steering it away from an area you have already cleared. The Y40P core improves coverage, while the Gen 2 attachment improves the way snow direction is controlled.

Gen 2 is offered with both Y40 and Y40P cores. Buying the newer snow blower does not automatically require the Y40P. If you already own a Yarbo, confirm compatibility for your exact model before choosing an attachment.

What stays the same?

The Y40P retains the Y Series approach of using one core with seasonal attachments. Several headline specifications are shared with the Y40 comparison in Yarbo’s overview:

  • Mowing slope rating: up to a 70% grade, approximately 35°.
  • Snow-removal slope rating: up to a 36% grade, approximately 20°.
  • Published mowing noise: approximately 60 dB, with no lower numerical rating shown for the Y40P.
  • Lawn Mower Pro battery capacity: 1.38 kWh in the compared configurations.

The new motors are intended to refine control and the sound of operation, but the published specifications do not establish a higher slope limit or a lower noise number. Match the rating to the attachment you intend to use, especially when comparing mowing with snow removal.

Who should consider the Y40 Pro?

Our take: the Yarbo Y40 Pro is most compelling for buyers with larger properties, multiple work areas, or plans to use their robot across several seasons. More coverage per charge and a simpler drivetrain are useful advantages when the machine will work frequently.

If you already own a Y40 that comfortably maintains your property, consider whether travel time, charging interruptions, or available work hours are actually limiting you. The newer core adds capacity, but your existing system may already meet your needs. A Gen 2 snow blower attachment may also address a winter-specific need without changing the core.
